Former Work and Pensions Minister Chris Pond served as Chair of the Equity Release Council Standards Board for 10 years until the beginning of this year. Chris has until recently also been Chair of the Lending Standards Board and was previously Director of Financial Capability at the Financial Services Authority where he helped to establish the Money Advice Service (now Money and Pensions Service) acting as its interim Chief Executive. Chris is Chair of the Financial Inclusion Commission and of TrustMark, the only government endorsed quality assurance scheme for energy efficiency and other work in and around people’s homes. He is also Chair of an asbestos-compensation scheme and an independent director with Pay.UK. A trustee of the Money and Mental Health Policy Institute, Chris has been CEO of two national charities and chair or trustee of many others.
